Let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-option-default\">What is UX Design?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">UX design stands for \u201cuser experience design,\u201d or the process of designing user interactions with products or services that are intuitive, efficient, and relevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">UI design, or \u201cuser interface design,\u201d meanwhile, centers around designing a seamless user interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">Usability, a related concept, \u201cis a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nngroup.com\/articles\/definition-user-experience\/\">quality attribute of the UI<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">Semantics aside, UX design is probably the most common, and broadest term that essentially relates to how easy it is for an end user to interact with your products or services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-option-default\">What is Healthcare UX Design?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">Healthcare UX design relates to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.interaction-design.org\/literature\/article\/healthcare-ux-design-that-saves-lives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the design of the user experience of any healthcare product or service<\/a>, such as electronic health records, disease management apps or doctor appointment scheduling apps.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">Have you ever experienced a healthcare app or site that was slow to load, clunky to navigate, or difficult to find information on? Then you\u2019ve experienced a healthcare solution with bad UX!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-option-default\">Why Are Healthcare UI &amp; UX Design Important?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">The above example perfectly displays how inconvenient and frustrating poor healthcare UX design can be from the perspective of the end user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">But as the Interaction Design Foundation notes, the consequences of healthcare UX design that\u2019s not well-researched, planned, and implemented can go far beyond the inconvenient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">Take for instance, diabetes monitors with too-small decimal points that visually impaired users read incorrectly, leading to insulin overdoses and diabetic coma or severe hypoglycemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">Or, the inability of an end user to schedule a necessary medical appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-option-default\">On the flipside, good UX design in healthcare often results in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Increased Patient Satisfaction and Trust:<\/strong> Think about it. If you don\u2019t trust the look and feel of a healthcare website, you likely won\u2019t want to provide key personal or medical information to that site, let alone trust the people running the business behind it to take care of you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enhanced Efficiency for Healthcare Professionals:<\/strong> Well-designed healthcare applications can streamline workflows for doctors, nurses, and other staff, making things like electronic health records, appointment management tools, and more, easier and more efficient to use.
